All dinners are prepared by Tom’s Market Catering and include light hors d’oeuvres, dinner and wine.  Menus are preset.  Space is limited, prepaid reservations are required for all dinners.  A portion of each ticket will be tax deductible; a letter will be sent to you for your records.

Join us for a sumptuous dinner on the spacious porch at Clouds Hill.  The meal and décor will make you feel that you are a guest of John Whipple Slater on his 198 foot steel yacht, the “Sagamore”, which often lay at anchor in Greenwich Bay off the Cowesett shore when he came to visit his sister Elizabeth Ives Slater at Clouds Hill.  The sister ship to the “Sagamore” was the 200 foot “Eleanor”, built for John’s cousin, William Albert Slater, of Norwich, Ct.; both were commodious yachts built for the comfort of family and friends as they toured the world.

Under a tent on the south lawn, we gather to celebrate the harvest.  R.I. agriculture is highlighted in the theme for the evening and the delicious meal sourced from R.I. farmers.  The evening includes a small silent and live auction, and MORE!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2018 at 6:30PM:  AN AUTUMN GAME DINNER     ***SOLD OUT***  Please consider another dinner!

 The tradition of hunting and fishing in America has been with us since the founding of the country, when fish and game formed a crucial part of the food that kept the colonies alive.  From the time when Alfred Augustus Reed, Jr. served on the first Rhode Island Commission of Inland Fisheries in the late 1800s, to the Clouds Hill gamekeeper raising pheasants and chukkar partridge for stocking on the estate and elsewhere during the first half of the twentieth century, and the 4th generation owner’s service as a Rhode Island game warden from the 1970s to 1993, the family has been actively involved in fishing and hunting.  If you have always wanted to try game dishes – or are already a fan of them – this dinner presents game as you have never imagined it could taste!

Clouds Hill celebrates Christmas every year with tours of thirteen decorated rooms and mulled cider and ginger cookies from a family recipe.  This year, we invite you to join us in the stately dining room for a holiday dinner based on Victorian tradition.  Enjoy the decorations and some holiday “cheer” before dinner and then settle in for an evening of spectacular dining in the style of a former time.

Winter is a fact of life in New England and the family was actively engaged with the elements at this time of year – whether it was Alfred Slater Reed, who managed the large dairy farm attached to the estate, helping cut ice on the estate ponds, or Anne Crawford Allen, with skis replacing the front wheels on her automobile, driving R. I. State Police officers to check on the health and safety of backwoods families    living at the end of unplowed dirt roads – this was a family that gloried in the winter weather.  Join us to enjoy the kind of hearty, stick-to-the-ribs food that kept them going and made dinner time a real treat.
